Jurnet of Norwich

Jurnet of Norwich was descended from the Jews who came to Norwich after the Norman Conquest. He came from a wealthy merchant family and had to pay the enormous sum of 1800 marks, for the privilege of living and trading in England. Jurnet made a living lending money to both the rich and poor, including the Crown and monastery of Bury of St Edmunds.
