Rochester Cathedral -

Rochester Cathedral is England's second oldest cathedral having been founded in 604AD by Bishop Justus.The current building dates back to 1080 and was built by Bishop Gundulf in close proximity to Rochester Castle. Of particular note are the Norman Nave and crypt and one of the finest romanesque facades in England. The cathedral became a major place of pilgrimage during the 13th Century following the death of William of Perth. It is also home to the first real fresco in an English cathedral for 800 years created in 2004.
